Nightsong™ is the short answer to a simple question: what did my night sound like? Here are the facts, in plain words, each one meant to stand on its own.
What it is
- Nightsong is an iPhone app from Somnus Technologies, Inc.
- It listens overnight from your nightstand and gives you one morning number, the Somnus Index™.
- The Somnus Index is a 0 to 100 wellness score, built mostly from snore burden and breathing regularity.
- It is measured against your own baseline, never a stranger's average.
- No wearable required. Your phone is the sensor. An Apple Watch can add context but never gates it.
How it works
- Plug the phone in and set it on the nightstand or mattress edge, within a few feet of your head.
- Tap Start, or turn on Auto-start after a night or two.
- Sleep. The phone listens and does the math on the device.
- Wake to your Somnus Index, and watch your trend take shape over weeks.
A learned model recognizes the real sound of snoring and breathing. Plain, fixed checks then throw out anything not loud enough or steady enough to be real.
- Partial: if only part of the night was heard well, the Index is marked Partial and reflects the stretch that was heard.
- No number: if the night was not heard well enough, Nightsong shows no number (NO READ) instead of a guess.
- Learning: the first nights read LEARNING while your baseline forms.
Privacy
- Recordings are made, analyzed, and scored on your iPhone. They are never uploaded. There is no cloud copy of your audio.
- One optional switch, Share and help improve Nightsong, sends a summary of a few numbers from the night, with no name, no email, and no account handle. Never a recording.
- The Village™ shares only your name, hours, score, snore number, and breathing rhythm, and only with people you invite.
- Your waitlist email is used to reach you and is never joined to your sleep data.
- The trade-off: no cloud backup of your audio, old nights cannot be re-scored from a server copy, and the listening phone should stay plugged in.
Who it is for
- Adults who want a private, honest picture of their own snoring and breathing patterns over weeks and months.
- People who would rather see a trend against their own baseline than a single grade.
Who it is not for
- People with diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea. Keep following your clinician.
- Anyone looking to check whether CPAP or another therapy is working. Nightsong does not do that.
- Anyone seeking a diagnosis. Nightsong does not diagnose or screen for any condition.
- Nightsong is a wellness app, not a medical device.
- If you have loud snoring with gasping, witnessed pauses in breathing, or heavy daytime sleepiness, see a doctor first.
