Why we built it this way

Your recordings never leave your phone. Ever.

Scoring runs on your iPhone in the morning. Audio and night compute stay on the device. We do not send them to the cloud.

The recording never leaves, full stop. One optional switch, Share & help improve, sends a summary of a few numbers. No recording. No name. No email.

Tonight

  1. A person setting a charging phone on the nightstand at bedtime.

    Plug in

    Phone on the nightstand. Charging.

  2. A person tapping the terracotta Start button on the phone.

    Tap Start, or Auto-start

Either way works. Set bedtime and plug in for Auto-start. Do not force quit Nightsong at bedtime.

  3. A person asleep in bed with the phone charging on the nightstand.

    Sleep

    It starts when you settle.

  4. A person in bed in the morning looking at the phone.

    Morning Index

Tap stop, or walk and it stops. Open the app for your number.

What the Index is

The Somnus Index™ is mostly snore burden and breathing regularity. A smaller share is other sleep measures. It is measured against you over time.

Heart rate, HRV, and oxygen come from Apple Health when a Watch is connected. Nightsong does not measure those with the mic. The Index is still mostly snore burden and breathing regularity from the phone.

Not Oura. Not Garmin readiness. Listening from the nightstand is different from a wearable, by design.

Modern AI, kept honest, on your phone. A learned model recognizes the real sound of snoring and breathing. Plain, fixed checks throw out anything not loud enough or steady enough to be real. If the night was not clearly heard, you get no number instead of a guess.

First nights may show Partial, Building, or learning. That is expected. The picture gets clearer as nights stack.
